Bio - Minister

Kara McCluskie - Bio

Kara has fond childhood memories of creating a butterfly costume with her Christian Education Minister for an Easter Sunday morning dance that would take place in the sanctuary of the Presbyterian Church where she and her family attended. Little did she know that one day she would follow in that CE minister’s footsteps and become one herself, though in a different denomination, The United Church of Canada.

After pursuing other jobs she was called to the Church in a more formal way and began paid ministry in 2006 as a Staff Associate, ministering to Children, Youth and Young Families at Division Street United Church in Owen Sound.

She then moved into solo ministry at Chatsworth –Massie Pastoral Charge, serving that community from 2012- 2018. During that time Kara completed requirements in order to become a Recognized Designated Lay Minister.

Kara is now grateful to be working alongside the dedicated and faithful people of Kilsyth & Keady- North Derby Pastoral Charge.

She enjoys singing, playing flute, knitting and rug hooking, nature walks and being the company of family, friends and animals.
